Honey Bunches of Oats with Almonds from Post Cereals

Cereal.

Lot’s of people eat it, but I don’t see a lot of reviews about it. Personally I’m pretty picky about the type of cereal I’ll eat. I won’t eat any of those sugary ‘kids’ cereals you see. I don’t care for them. I don’t mind the sweetness so much, that doesn’t bother me. What bothers me is the way they exploit children, and the fact that they seem so devoid of actual content and nutrition. I mean, super sugar glazed fruity cereals, or chocolate flavor, or weird things like marshmallows? That seems to be the opposite of what I want to have in a food that is going to keep me going throughout the day!

On the other hand, I don’t like those cereals that are too bland, or are boring, or too monotone in flavor, look or texture either. Those just turn me off. I’m not really a granola fan, but its better than eating the latest Super Choco Sugar Glazed Munchies. However, I’ve found a cereal that blends everything I like about cereals into one delicious package.

Honey Bunches of Oats with Almonds from Post.

All I have to say is, yum! It has crispy flakes, crunchy oats and just a hint of honey for sweetness. No sugar need be added to this delicious cereal for it has the balance of crunchy and sweet down to a science. Plus, I love almonds and having the little almond slivers in this just makes it perfect. Originally invented by Vernon J. Herzing for Post Cereals, it took a total of three years to perfect this formula, and it was worth the wait. A delicious and nutritious alternative to all the sugary cereals and far superior to the rest of the bland bunch, I feel this is a more adult cereal, though my kids love it too. In fact, I have to buy extra boxes because they eat it as a snack often times in the afternoon and evening. Not that I mind. They could be eating something far less good for them, so I won’t complain.

Honey Bunches of Oats with Almonds. Try it. I guarantee you’ll like it.

  1. I've been trying to lower my carb intake and increase my protein intake. I have found the ideal cereal for this - Special K Protein Plus. Have you tried it? I can't get it in Canada so I stock up on it whenever I'm shopping south of the border.
